Project Greenlight came about on Twitter last week when @redcrossmom and @zorinsmom shared exchanged a string of messages regarding Ahmadinejad’s visit to the UN and what people could do to protest. @redcrossmom said something like “wouldn’t it be nice if we gave Ahmadinejad a nice green welcome to New York City?” to which @zorinsmom responded, “wouldn’t it be nice to have so many green lights that they could be seen on Google earth”. @redcrossmom suggested that people should concentrate on the week that Ahmadinejad will be in NYC and suggested “Project Greenlight” as the name for this action.
A poster has been made for this project that you are invited to share.
The idea behind this action is to light up green lights, for 7 nights, between September 18th and September 25th while the UN’s General Assembly takes place.
No matter if you are in New York, Berlin or Sidney make a stand and light up the night in Green. Take pictures and upload them to Flickr, Twitter and let us know about it.

I can’t go to NYC for the protests but I would love to contribute to a fund to buy green light bulbs to give away to people who live in midtown. Is there some way to organize such a thing?
Great project btw.
I have followed the protests about the fraudulent election in Iran carefully. I would definitely donate money in a NY minute to show U.S. dismay at the “President” Ahmadinejad actions. I am sure many people in America would want to help. If a bank or a well known nonprofit organization with good bona fides is able to step forward to help and is able to be the accept donations through Paypal to help offset the NY protests costs it would be most appreciated. I am sure there would be an outpouring of funds. Has anybody written “The Lede Blog” which has provided excellent coverage of Iran’s internal battles to help connect resources or Mayor Bloomberg?
